Nathan gardner
community representative, new york city
Nathan Gardner is a United States Air Force veteran who served active duty from 2007 to 2012 in Security Forces, specializing in nuclear weapons security at Kirtland Air Force Base. Following his military service, Nathan faced significant personal challenges, including a diagnosis of stage III cancer and permanent spinal injuries that resulted in chronic pain and disability. These experiences reshaped his perspective and fueled his commitment to helping fellow veterans.
In 2022, Nathan was paired with his service dog, Kenzo, through America’s VetDogs; an experience that restored his independence and inspired him to advocate for other veterans facing similar challenges. Since then, he has become a dedicated advocate and public speaker, raising awareness about the life-changing impact service dogs have on veterans’ physical and mental well-being.
Nathan earned his MBA from St. Joseph’s University, New York, in 2025. He was recognized with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence and served as President of Student Veterans of America. His leadership experience, combined with his personal connection to the mission, allows him to authentically connect with veterans, supporters, and community partners.
As a Community Representative, Nathan is passionate about helping veterans regain independence, restoring hope, and ensuring more veterans have access to the life-changing support of service dogs.
