Ruff Ride Philly is almost here! We’re so excited for 24 hours full of community, energy, and purpose. Join us on June 6–7 at the historic 2300 Arena for Ruff Ride Philadelphia, where every mile helps support our mission of providing life-saving service dogs to injured or disabled Veterans. Doors open at 8:00 AM and check-in begins at 9 AM, so make sure to arrive early, get settled, and get ready for the ride. Bikes start spinning at 10 AM sharp, and once the energy kicks off, it doesn’t stop for 24 hours. Parking is free on-site but it will fill up quickly. The on-site lot is fairly small and has limited ADA spots up front. For people who find the parking lot full when they arrive, on-street parking is available on South Swanson Street and on nearby streets like West Ritner Street and Wolf Street! Please plan ahead, arrive on time, and bring your best Ruff Ride spirit. We’re ready for a full day of movement, community, and impact! 🐾

A legacy of community, service, and impact 🤍 After losing both of their grandparents within days of each other, the McCabe family searched for a way to honor their memory while creating a new space to gather. Watching the Masters Tournament together each year as a tradition became something more. In April 2014, The McMasters was born. What began as a golf outing for a small family quickly grew into an annual tradition that brought together friends, family, and a shared sense of purpose. Over time, that purpose expanded it’s reach beyond the family to support the Veteran community through Team Foster. By 2019, the impact of the event led to the creation of the McMasters Foundation, allowing proceeds to directly support programs serving Veterans and their families. Through this partnership, the outing became a way to give back to those who have served. In 2023, that impact came ot life with the naming of service dog WCC James II, in honor of Corporal James McCabe. This moment brought together the McMasters family, Team Foster, Warrior Canine Connection, and a shared commitment to support Veterans through trained service dogs. As the event continued to grow, it’s reach and participation also increased. With every coming year, more support was directed towards strengthening the Veteran community. And in 2025, the McCabe family made the meaningful decision of gifting the McMasters Open to Team Foster. This way, the legacy continued to grow, while deepening its impact in serving Veterans and building lasting community connections. Today, with the McMaster Foundation board joining Team Foster as a dedicated committee, the event continues to evolve while carrying the legacy of James and Theresa McCabe forward! Team Foster works with accredited organizations to ensure each dog is prepared to meet the real, daily needs of a Veteran. That level of training takes time, expertise, and long-term investment. Even after the placement, Veterans continue to receive guidance, connection, and advocacy as they build life alongside their service dog. For Veterans who are deaf or hard of hearing, a service dog can be the difference between feeling isolated and feeling fully part of everyday life 🐾 In the second part of our series, Andrew Einstein, our community representative and Veteran, shares how he met Cassidy, a hearing assistance service dog from Susquehanna Service Dogs. Learning to trust Cassidy meant learning a new way to navigate his daily life, from alerting to important sounds to helping Andrew feel safer and more confident in public spaces. Hearing service dogs like Cassidy are trained to respond to specific sounds, such as alarms, doorbells, and approaching vehicles, and then guide their handler’s attention where it’s needed. For Veterans, this support can reduce stress, increase independence, and make everyday activities more accessible and less overwhelming. We’re excited to welcome Nathan Gardner and his service dog, Kenzo, to the Team Foster family! As our Community Representative for New York City, Nathan brings a deep commitment to supporting Veterans and the Team Foster mission. Nathan Gardner served in the U.S. Air Force (2007–2012) in Security Forces, specializing in nuclear weapons security at Kirtland Air Force Base. Following his military service, Nathan faced significant challenges, including a diagnosis of stage III cancer and permanent spinal injuries that resulted in chronic pain and disability. In 2022, Nathan was partnered with his service dog Kenzo through America’s VetDogs, an experience that inspired his advocacy for fellow Veterans. Nathan lives in New York City with Kenzo and is passionate about raising awareness for the life-changing impact of service dogs. Give him a huge Team Foster welcome!! 🐾

How can a service dog change a Veteran’s life? Andrew Einstein, our PHL community representative and Veteran, shares how his first service dog, Gunner, became his lifeline and a source of strength during some of his hardest times. After returning home from military service, Andrew faced challenges that many Veterans experience in silence, including anxiety, hyper-vigilance, and isolation. Service dogs are trained to interrupt anxiety behaviors, provide grounding during moments of distress, and create a sense of safety that allows Veterans to re-engage with life. Their support offers physical assistance while also restoring connection, purpose, and independence. Andrew’s story reminds us that every partnership between a Veteran and a service dog represents another life strengthened through trust and support. Dog Days of Winter 2026 is officially over, and what a season it has been! ❄️ Our community showed that when determination meets purpose, incredible things can happen. From the first mile to the last one, every participant brought the energy and heart that define Team Foster. Dog Days of Winter brings connection, dedication, and memories of why we run, ride, and move together. Through roads filled with snow during countless early morning, our supporters kept pushing forward, helping us foster the mission year round. We are proud to celebrate two amazing individuals who went above and beyond during this year’s challenge. Vegas Blanchard recorded the highest amount of miles with a shocking 426.11 miles under his belt. Angel Delgado came forward as the highest fundraiser this year. Both of them showed that this kind of commitment captures the strength and resilience that fuels our community. The leadership and dedication of every supporter in this event always inspires us to work towards creating an event better community for our Veterans.
