Ruff Ride 2020 FAQ

What is the Ruff Ride 24-Hour Spin Relay? Ruff Ride is the country’s only outdoor 24-Hour spin relay. We take over the courtyard at Commerce Square, 2005 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103. Each team will sign up for a 24 hour relay-style sessions. Your team members will rotate on your designated bike and ride relay style taking turns for designated time slots by a team captain.

Why should I ride? Team Foster raises money to provide trained service dogs at no cost to local veterans, including those suffering from post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injuries.

How long do I have to ride? There is no minimum ride time per ride. When and how long you ride is between you and your team.

How do I register? To start or join a team, register here. There is a registration fee for each individual who joins the team. This fee is separate from the team fundraising requirement.

When is the last day to register? Ruff Ride will sell out. Online team registration online ends no later than May 14, 2020. However, teams can add participants on the day of the event.

Is there a fundraising requirement? Each team has a minimum fundraising goal of $2,000. Team Captains will be given the opportunity to distribute donations amongst their team members as needed.

How do I get Red Carpet VIP Access?
Teams who raise at least $5,000 and individuals who raise at least $500 will have access to the VIP area which includes snacks, heavier mealtime fare, drinks, storage & sleep area, indoor bathrooms, and access to a full kitchen. Teams who raise at least $10,000 will have access to the VIP area and be provided an outdoor tented area.

Are registration fees included in the fundraising minimum? No, the registration fee for participants is not included in the fundraising minimum.

How can I raise funds for Ruff Ride? You will have your own team and individual fundraising page to help support your efforts. We will also be providing fundraiser tips and examples to aid your efforts.

Is there a limit to how many people can be on a team? There is a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 24. Each team just needs to have someone on the bike at all times. Once the team is established you can set up a schedule for your team to spin throughout the 24 hours.

Can I volunteer for Ruff Ride? Yes! We are looking for volunteers to assist at the event. Select “Volunteer” at registration to help out.

What should I wear? We encourage all participants to wear comfortable, active clothing and shoes. You can wear sneakers. You do not need cycling shoes, but cycling shoes with SPD clips are permitted. Bike shorts are encouraged. Be mindful of the weather – this is an outdoor event. Riders will have a tent over the bikes for shelter, but temps may be much cooler at night and or very warm during the day.

What if the weather is no good? This a rain or shine event!!! In the event of inclement weather, dress accordingly!

Where can I park? There are lots on Market Street as well as metered street parking. To park at Commerce Square you will enter on the underground lot on 21st street (North of Market Street, East side). Riders who reach the VIP Fundraising minimum will receive a parking voucher to the Commerce Square garage.

Will there be food and drink at the event? Yes, there will be drinks and snacks for all registered participants and volunteers at the event. Teams who raise at least $5,000 and individuals who raise at least $500 will have access to the VIP area which includes upgraded snacks and heavier mealtime fare.

Can I bring food and drinks? Yes, feel free to pack some grub and a team cooler!

What do I get if I purchase the food and beverage voucher? The Food & Beverage Voucher gets you a bracelet which will allow you access to all food and beverages provided while participating in Ruff Ride.

Can I bring a dog friend? It’s not prohibited by the venue, but we encourage people to be thoughtful and considerate before bringing their animals. There will be a number of service dogs and service-dogs-in-training at the event.

Is this donation tax deductible? Team Foster is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.
