FAQ – Ruff Ride

• What is the Ruff Ride 24 Hour Team Spin Relay?
Rough Ride is a challenging spin event benefiting Team Foster. We will take over Commerce Square in Philadelphia and each team will sign up for a 24 hour relay-style sessions. Your team members will rotate on their designated bike and ride relay style taking turns for designated time slots.

• Where is Ruff Ride?
This takes place OUTDOORS in the courtyard at Commerce Square, 2005 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

• How long do I have to ride?
There is no minimum ride time per ride but there will be prizes will be awarded to the Ruff Ride MVP. When and how long you ride is between you and your team. Ruff Ride starts at 11:00am, May 31 and ends 11:00am, June 1.

• How do I register?
To start or join a team, register here. There is $35 per person registration fee for each individual who joins the team. This fee is in separate from the team fundraising requirement. (**Teams are SOLD OUT, but individuals may still register).

• When is the last day to register?
Ruff Ride will sell out. Online registration online ends no later than May 30, 2019. However, teams can add participants on the day of the event.

• Is there a fundraising requirement?
Each team has a minimum fundraising goal of $1,000. Teams who raise at least $3,000 and individuals who raise at least $500 will have access to the VIP area which includes snacks, heavier mealtime fare, non-alcoholic drinks, storage area, indoor bathrooms, and access to a full kitchen.

• Are registration fees included in the fundraising minimum?
No, the $35 registration fee for participants is not included in the fundraising minimum.

• How can I raise funds for Ruff Ride?
You will have your own team and individual fundraising page to help support your efforts.

• Can I volunteer for Ruff Ride?
Yes! We are looking for volunteers to assist at the event. Register here and select “Volunteer” to help out.

• Is there a limit to how many people can be on a team?
No, each team just must have someone on the bike at all times. Once the team is established you can set up a schedule for your team to spin throughout the 24 hours.

• How do I make a donation to an individual or team?

• Where can I park?

Thanks to Brandywine Reality there will be $5 parking vouchers available for all participants and volunteers (max 1 per person). Please enter on the underground lot on 21st street (North of Market Street, East side). Vouchers are available at check-in at the registration tent.

• What should I wear?
We encourage all participants to wear comfortable, active clothing and shoes. You can wear sneakers. You do not need cycling shoes, but cycling shoes with SPD clips are permitted. Bike shorts are encouraged. Be mindful of the weather – this is an outdoor event. Riders will have a tent for shelter, but temps may be much cooler at night and or very warm during the day.

• What if the weather is no good?
This a rain or shine event!!! Tents will be provided. In the event of inclement weather, dress accordingly!

• Do I have to stay the entire twenty four hours if I am cycling with a team?
No, you can ride and leave or you can stay. We encourage riders to stay and cheer on their teammates! Hit the fundraising goals and you will have access to the VIP area!

• How long do I have to ride for?
There is no minimum ride time per ride but there will be prizes will be awarded to the top performing teams and individuals – Ruffest Team and Ruffest Rider.

• Will there be food and drink at the event?
Yes, there will be drinks and snacks for all registered participants and volunteers at the event. Teams which raise at least $3,000 and individuals who raise at least $500 will have access to the VIP area which includes upgraded snacks and heavier mealtime fare.

• Can I bring food and drinks?
Yes, feel free to pack some grub and a team cooler!

• Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely!!! They can register at the event if they want to make a last-minute decision to join your team!

• Can I bring a dog friend?

It’s not prohibited by the venue, but we encourage people to be thoughtful and considerate before bringing their animals. There will be a number of service dogs and service-dogs-in-training at the event.

• Is this donation tax deductible?
Team Foster is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.
